Laal Rang - Trailer Review

Trailer Appeal - 3/5

Laal Rang is an upcoming film of Randeep Hooda about illegal blood trade to be released on 22 April 2016. Film is inspired by true events. Plot is very different and hasn't been explored yet in Bollywood. Randeep looks very convincing and deadly as Shankar. His mannerism, dialogue delivery, Hariyanvi accent is perfect in all aspects.

In true sense, success of the film entirely depends on him. There aren't any big names in film other than him. Film also stars Akshay Oberoi and Pia Bajpai who are virtually unknown in Bollywood fraternity. Director Syed Ahmad Afzal and Producer Nitika Thakur don't have a clout and yet to prove themselves. Film is released by a small time banner Krian Pictures.

Hope it doesn't turn out to be another Main aur Charles where everyone appreciates Randeep but not the film.

Nil Battey Sannata - Trailer Review

Trailer Appeal - 5/5

Absolutely stunning! I don't remember, when was the last time when I was so eager to watch a film. Nil Battey Sannata picks up a plot, which is very realistic yet rarely shown in Bollywood. This film doesn't have traditional characterization of Hero / Heroin but very well defined realistic characters.

How a parent (Swara Bhaskar), who isn't well educated nor well to do but has great dreams for her child. Ria (A Newcomer) is playing the role of child who just wants to have fun in life. Pankaj Tripathi as the mathematics teacher cum principal who is hated simply because kids hate mathematics. Phobia of mathematics among kids is also shown beautifully with song "Maths mein dabba gul" :D Ratna Pathak Shah as the educated owner where Swara Bhaskar works as Bai. For Swara, her Didi is the only source of worldly wisdom. Again this is something very common in Indian households. Any advice given by these owners means so much to household help.

Thank you Anand L Rai for making such a different refreshing film. Ashwini Iyer Tiwari is a new debutante director who has directed some short films earlier. Bollywood ReviewsNow wholeheartedly wishes the team of Nil Battey Sannata good luck and eagerly look forward to release date 22nd April 2016.

Some of the dialogues which touched my heart:

1. Ria (wants to become a bai like her mom and says): "Is desh mein to bachon ko apna career decide karne ka freedom hi nahi hai"

2. Ria to her mom: "Agar main metric pass bhi ho gayi to teri haisiyat hai mujhe aage padhane ki"

3. Ria to her friend: "Meri maan apne sapne mujh par thop rahi hai". To which fer friend replies: "Wo apne sapne tum par nahi thop rahi. Uska to sapna hi tum ho appu"

4. Principal (Pankaj Tripathi): "Inko admission chahiye, Kahan?"

Baaghi - Trailer Review

Trailer Appeal - 2/5

36 Chambers of Shaolin meets Kerela tourism. It can't get more predictable than that. Whole trailer looks like Streetfighter video game. There can't be any story in this film nor we can expect any acting from Tiger n Lady Shakti Kapoor. Action sequence of Tiger Shroff were still believable but for Shradha Kapoor, we really need a Hazmola Sir.

Jai Gangaajal - Trailer Review

Trailer Appeal - 3/5

Jai Gangaajal is a Prakash Jha's marvel about crime and politics in Bihar. Last few flicks haven't created much ripples, hence he has put all his efforts behind this one.

Plot doesn't look too different from previous Gangaajal. One audacious cop trying to tame wild lions of Bankipur. But, Priyanka Chopra doesn't look too convincing as the Iron lady of police force. I wish we had someone like Tabu or Rani Mukerji for the role. Every scene which Prakash Jha has graced is an absolute treat to watch. He looks downright shrewd and corrupt in his role. After Tigmanshu Dhulia, he'll be the 2nd director to grace silver screen so late in his career.

Ninad Kamat also looks promising in a different avatar. He has always been known for a happy go lucky cute guy but not really so much in Jai Gangaajal. Manav Kaul has got a very meaty role, lets hope he will able to do justice to it.

Soundtrack is not really impressive and I just hope it doesn't drag the film unnecessarily. I really hope this film clicks for Actor-Director-Producer-Script writer Mr Prakash Jha. Wish you all the best!

Fan - Trailer Review

Trailer Appeal - 3.5/5

Fan is the upcoming mega production from YRF banner starring Shahrukh Khan in double role (as himself SRK and his fan Gaurav). Film is produced by Aditya Chopra and directed by talented Maneesh Sharma. SRK plays a negative role of an obsessed fan who wants to show off that his idol is nothing without a fan. You'll get to see darker side of SRK which we loved in Darr and Anjam. Trailer looks very impressive and VFX makes it even more appealing. Knowing SRK, he can pull off both the roles with panache.

For this film to be a classic, we need a get script and screenplay. Hope, it doesn't end into a mindless chase sequence. We see a lot of action in the film. Hope, they aren't too long and make the film a drag. Audience would also look for a solid ending, something that will be remembered forever. It can't be .. I am sorry and they lived happily ever after.

Film also has newcomers like Waluscha and Shriya Pilgaonkar. Though, I am not sure with 2 SRKS, how much of screen time they are going to get :) Songs released so far are different language versions of Jabra Fan and not impressive at all. Hope, either they have better songs or for that matter no songs at all.

With such a big banner it'll definitely clock 200 Cr but I hope we get something worth remembering and not just another Dilwale. Good luck SRK! I have been waiting for a long time to see an marvel ever since Om Shanti Om.
